60 wins. Again. The Celtics keep making history.
The Boston Celtics rolled past the Charlotte Hornets 130-94 Friday night, becoming the first team in the NBA this season to hit the 60-win mark — and they did it in style.
With Payton Pritchard (22 pts) and Sam Hauser (20 pts) leading the charge, and Jayson Tatum adding a smooth 16-8-8 stat line, Boston made it official: another dominant regular season in the books.
“Another incredible season,” said Tatum.
“The goal is to win a championship, of course — but we have to appreciate moments like this. Sixty wins doesn’t happen by accident.”
🔢 Celtics Milestone Watch:
- 15th 60-win season in franchise history (most in the NBA)
- First back-to-back 60+ win seasons since 2007-08 and 2008-09
- 7 of their previous 14 60-win seasons ended in NBA titles
🔜 What’s next?
Boston has locked up the No. 1 seed in the East and will face the winner of the Orlando Magic vs. Atlanta Hawks play-in matchup.
Coach Joe Mazzulla took the opportunity to rest his stars in the fourth. Notably, Jaylen Brown sat out entirely (sore right knee) and is now ineligible for postseason awards due to the 65-game minimum rule.
🔥 From Deep: Seth Curry Quietly Makes History
Despite the Hornets’ blowout loss, Seth Curry quietly entered the record books, hitting 5-of-7 from three and pushing his total to 82 threes this season — enough to qualify for the league lead in 3P% at 45.6%.
🗓️ Final Tune-Up
The Celtics and Hornets will meet again Sunday in the regular-season finale, likely another light day for Boston’s core. The real season begins shortly after.
Boston is ready. Are the rest of the East?
