Butler scored 25 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, dished 6 assists, and recorded 5 steals. His all-around dominance helped the Warriors withstand a late Houston rally.

“He’s one of the best players in the league… It’s about settling the game down, competing, and winning games like this,” said Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who secured his 100th playoff win.

Key Moments in Warriors vs Rockets Game 1

Butler scored six points in the final 1:43, including a crucial step-back jumper over Alperen Sengun.

He became the first player since 1973-74 to post 25 points and 5 steals in a playoff debut for a franchise.

The Warriors built a 66-43 lead, but Houston closed the gap to three points before Butler and Stephen Curry closed the game.

Curry finished with 31 points, shooting 12-for-19 from the field and 5-for-9 from three-point range. It was his seventh career 30+ point playoff game against Houston, tying his most against any opponent.

“He has a knack for big moments,” Curry said of Butler.

Defensive Battle Defines Warriors vs Rockets Game 1

The Rockets grabbed 22 offensive rebounds, turning the game into a physical contest that Kerr compared to a 1997 playoff game.

Golden State’s defense, ranked No. 1 in the league since Butler’s arrival on February 8, remained elite.

Since acquiring Butler, the Warriors have posted a 25-8 record, relying on their improved defense and veteran leadership.
