Manchester City top UEFA payouts in the latest Club Benefits Programme, earning €5.17 million ($5.94 million) for releasing players to national team competitions.

Manchester City Lead UEFA Club Benefits Payouts

UEFA announced Tuesday that Manchester City received the largest payout among European clubs under the Club Benefits Programme. City secured approximately €5.17 million, highlighting their dominance both at the club and international levels.

In total, UEFA distributed a record €233 million across 901 clubs from its 55 member associations. The payments covered player participation in the 2020-21 and 2022-23 UEFA Nations League, European Championship qualifiers (2022-24), and UEFA Euro 2024.

The distribution model rewarded clubs with an equal share for each player released during qualifiers, along with a fixed daily rate for players involved in final tournaments like Euro 2024.

Even lower-tier clubs benefited. English 10th-tier side Yorkshire Amateur, for example, received €7,300 in compensation.

UEFA’s Growth in Club Support

UEFA’s overall financial contribution to clubs increased:

• Release payments for Nations League and qualifiers rose from €70 million to €100 million.

• Euro 2024-specific player release funds rose from €130 million to €140 million.

UEFA emphasized that rewarding both elite and grassroots clubs helps strengthen the ecosystem of European football.
