Newcastle United have booked their place in the Champions League Round of 16, and manager Eddie Howe believes Newcastle can compete with anyone left in the competition.
Speaking after progressing through the knockout stage, Eddie Howe described reaching the last 16 as a “massive achievement” for Newcastle United F.C., highlighting how nothing was handed to them from the start of their European journey.
Howe admitted the performance in the second leg wasn’t their best, especially after racing into an early 2-0 lead, but stressed that winning the game was the priority.
Eddie Howe also addressed the continued tactical evolution of Nick Woltemade, acknowledging that while this wasn’t his most influential display in the deeper role, the team’s overall structure after the early goals affected the game more than any individual performance.
Can the Magpies raise their level again and make a historic run deep into the Champions League?
