Celtics’ Jayson Tatum Injury Update Ahead of Game 2
Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum is officially listed as doubtful for Game 2 of their first-round playoff series against the Orlando Magic. Tatum sustained a right wrist bone bruise following a hard collision during Sunday’s 108-101 Celtics victory.
How the Injury Happened
Veteran Al Horford pointed to the Orlando Magic’s physical play, highlighting the midair collision involving Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Wendell Carter Jr. Caldwell-Pope was assessed a flagrant foul after sending Tatum crashing to the court.
Tatum stayed in the game, finishing with 17 points and 14 rebounds, but was seen favoring his wrist. Although X-rays were negative, persistent soreness led to Tuesday’s injury update.
Coach and Player Reactions
Joe Mazzulla:
“Just sore after the game; it’s gotten a little better today. He’s doing some on-court work. We’ll go from there.”
Mazzulla also explained a heated moment during Game 1, when he was seen yelling at Tatum to “get up” while he was down:
“Love. It all starts with love.”
Al Horford:
“Yeah, there was something extra. Especially [Caldwell-Pope] — he went at him in that way.”
Payton Pritchard:
“Obviously, they fouled him hard, but it’s not going to stop us from what we’re trying to achieve.”
Celtics’ Jayson Tatum Doubtful for Critical Game 2
The Celtics lead the series 1-0. However, Tatum’s potential absence for Game 2 raises concerns about maintaining momentum against a tough Magic team.
