- Every big club dreams of this competition, Flick says, and Barcelona have the quality to win it. But it is a long way, they have only just started, and the level has to show in La Liga as well as in Europe.
- With a squad this deep he expects some players to be unhappy right now. He calls that normal: every day each of them has to show he is better, and the level in training is what carries into the games.
- Part of the captains group now, improving day by day, and enjoying his football, which Flick calls the best thing about him. The goals he missed do not worry him: the last passes came instead, and the goals will follow.
- The moment the post is named after. Flick says he would be happy if one of his players wins it, that the choice is not his job, and that the quality and daily mentality he sees mean more than one of them could.
- Asked by a Dutch reporter about the injury from the World Cup, Flick says the evolution is exactly as expected, that he spoke with him that morning, and that he may be back after the international break.
Hansi Flick believes Barcelona have several players capable of winning the Ballon d’Or, pointing to the quality, attitude and mentality within his squad. The Barcelona coach refused to campaign for one individual, but said he would be delighted to see one of his players receive the award and believes there are multiple candidates in his team.
Flick also praised the standards being set inside the Barcelona squad, stressing that players must prove themselves every day in training to earn a place in the starting XI. He highlighted the intensity, communication and togetherness he is seeing from his side as Barcelona look to maintain their level across La Liga and the Champions League.
Lamine Yamal was among the players discussed during the press conference, with Flick praising his ability to decide matches, his desire to improve and the responsibility he is showing within the squad. The manager made clear, however, that Barcelona’s ambitions depend on the collective rather than one individual, with competition for places remaining high throughout the team.
