He could have easily used either surname on his jersey, but he made a different choice for a powerful reason.
Before Lamine was even born, his parents went through serious hardships. Two incredible people — named Lamine and Yamal — stepped in to help them, even paying their rent when they needed it most.
Out of gratitude, Lamine’s parents made a promise: if they had a child, they would name him after their saviors.
