Andoni Iraola press conference before Liverpool vs Villarreal in the Champions League. Iraola backs Florian Wirtz after he became the first player in more than five years to create nine or more chances from open play in a Premier League game, the first since Sadio Mané. Iraola says Wirtz has had two very good games and adds: “We analyse and over-scrutinise everything, but when he does well also it’s fair to say it.&
Iraola gives injury news on Jeremie Frimpong, who has a new muscle injury and will struggle to play again before the international break. Dominik Szoboszlai has not made his injury worse but needs more patience, while Ryan Gravenberch is back.
Iraola also says he prefers playing at Anfield, talks about rotating after the demanding Brentford game and calls facing his friend Iñigo Pérez a privilege. He explains how Pérez was refused a work permit at Bournemouth, and he praises Victor Muñoz and Ronald Araújo before Liverpool vs Villarreal.
