- Wiegman said she has many emotions again, and is feeling relieved and happy. It feels a bit surreal to be making a final again, but England are there and going to the final.
- Asked about the young player's night, Wiegman said she has something special. At only 19 she is very mature, keeps the ball well as a target player, and was aiming when she hit the crossbar.
“…when it finishes like that, I'm enjoying it.”
- Asked if she thought it was over, Wiegman said at 88 minutes she thought England had to score, or they would be on a flight home tomorrow. Seven added minutes gave them time for another chance.
- Asked about Lauren James, who had ice on her foot, Wiegman said she hurt her ankle and had to come off. Wiegman had not seen her yet, so does not know how the next couple of days look.
- Asked about the effect of so many late goals, Wiegman said she would really like to go ahead early and stay ahead. Getting behind is not the plan, but it shows England are not done.
- Asked for her secret, with this her fifth final as the reporter put it, Wiegman said she doesn't know. She is the lucky one to work with so many good people, and she thinks she is always herself.
- Asked about the penalty and the save, Wiegman said she always thinks the penalty goes in. The rebound was a little bit lucky, and later she added that if you don't sprint, you don't get that ball.
Sarina Wiegman reacts to England’s dramatic semi-final win over Italy at Euro 2025: “Chloe Kelly LOVES the Big Moments” calling the result both “surreal” and emotional.
She praises Chloe Kelly’s calm under pressure and the impact of young star Michelle Lochin-Mansfield, who changed the game with her confidence and maturity.
Wiegman explains her bold tactical changes late in the match and how England’s substitutes once again proved decisive.
She also addresses Lauren James’ injury, the squad’s refusal to give up, and the overwhelming support for Jess Carter from fans.
With another final secured, Wiegman admits the performance hasn’t always been perfect but winning and believing until the last second is what defines England Women team.
