Kovač admits Dortmund deserved to lose
Coach Niko Kovač said his team had defended badly and accepted that Barcelona deserved the victory.
He felt Dortmund had played reasonably well for about 20 minutes after the opening goal but then conceded once from a set piece and three times on counterattacks.
Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel agreed that Dortmund had given away too much. The defeat left them needing an extraordinary comeback in the return leg, while they also sat five points outside the Bundesliga’s Champions League places.
