Enzo Maresca press conference before Man City vs AEK Athens in the Champions League. Maresca says Erling Haaland can be available after a doubt over the weekend, and he dismisses talk of a different number nine: “Why we need to think about a different 9 when Erling Haaland is there?” He also confirms that Antoine Semenyo will be out for probably eight weeks with an impact injury, not a muscle problem, and could be back around December. Matheus Nunes, Mateo Kovacic and Nico O’Reilly are more or less okay.
Maresca names Phil Foden as one of the solutions up front if needed. He talks about the response to the Champions League defeat to PSG, the difference between City’s home and away performances, and managing the workloads of players who were at the World Cup.
He also answers the Greek media about his season at Olympiacos and what Man City vs AEK Athens fans can expect at the Etihad.
