Wolves beat Tottenham 4-2 at Molineux on 13 April 2025 to claim a fourth successive Premier League victory for the first time.
Rayan Ait-Nouri scored after 85 seconds and created another goal as Wolves moved 14 points clear of the relegation places. Hours later, head coach Vitor Pereira celebrated with supporters at a Wolverhampton pub.
Ait-Nouri drives Wolves into control
Ait-Nouri opened the scoring with Wolves’ fastest Premier League goal. Guglielmo Vicario punched Jean-Ricner Bellegarde’s free-kick towards the edge of the area, where the defender met it with a 20-yard volley.
Vicario was involved again in the 38th minute. He pushed Ait-Nouri’s cross against Djed Spence and the ball rebounded into the net.
Mathys Tel pulled one back from Brennan Johnson’s cross after 59 minutes. Wolves answered five minutes later when Ait-Nouri robbed Cristian Romero and found Jorgen Strand Larsen, who scored for a fourth league game in a row.
Richarlison headed in with five minutes remaining, but Matheus Cunha punished another Spurs error less than two minutes later to complete the scoring.
Pereira refuses to settle for survival
The win lifted Wolves to 16th, two points behind Tottenham, and gave them their longest top-flight winning run since 1972.
“We faced a strong team, but I think, in my opinion, we deserve the result,” Pereira said. Asked whether Wolves were safe, he refused to make survival the limit of his ambition and immediately turned his attention to a fifth straight win.
Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou blamed individual mistakes after making six changes before the second leg of his side’s Europa League quarter-final against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Pereira celebrates with Wolves supporters
Pereira later visited the Moon Under Water pub in Wolverhampton and joined supporters for a drink. It was his second visit after a win, following the 2-1 victory at Ipswich eight days earlier.
One fan summed up the evening in four words: “First the points, then the pints.&
