Paris Saint-Germain beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Parc des Princes to complete a 3-1 aggregate victory and reach the Champions League final.
Fabián Ruiz and Achraf Hakimi scored for PSG before Bukayo Saka pulled one back for Arsenal in a tense second leg.
Donnarumma stops Arsenal’s fast start
Arsenal attacked from the opening whistle. Declan Rice headed wide in the third minute before Gianluigi Donnarumma denied Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Ødegaard inside the first ten minutes.
PSG survived the pressure and almost scored when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia hit the post after 17 minutes.
The opening goal arrived ten minutes later. Thomas Partey headed a free-kick to the edge of the box, where Ruiz controlled the ball on his chest and drove a left-footed shot in off William Saliba.
Raya saves a penalty before Hakimi strikes
Ousmane Dembélé, scorer of the only goal in the first leg, started on the bench and entered after 70 minutes.
A minute earlier, David Raya had kept Arsenal alive by saving Vitinha’s penalty. The spot kick was awarded for handball against Myles Lewis-Skelly after the referee reviewed the incident at the pitchside monitor.
PSG did not have to wait long for a second goal. They won the ball high in Arsenal’s half, and Hakimi curled his finish beyond Raya in the 72nd minute.
Saka gives Arsenal hope but PSG hold on
Saka cut the deficit four minutes later when he met Leandro Trossard’s low cross and finished past Donnarumma.
Arsenal had another chance three minutes later, but Saka lifted Riccardo Calafiori’s cross over the bar. The visitors finished with 19 attempts but put only four on target.
It was PSG who celebrated in front of 47,511 supporters, securing the club’s second Champions League final appearance.
Arteta points to Donnarumma’s impact
Mikel Arteta believed Arsenal deserved more from the two legs and singled out PSG’s goalkeeper.
“When you analyse both games, who has been the best player, the MVP has been the same player, the goalkeeper,” Arteta said. “The Champions League is decided in the boxes, and he has won the game for them.”
The Arsenal manager said his players were in tears after the final whistle. He also noted that injuries had prevented him from taking a fully available squad into the semi-final.
PSG coach Luis Enrique accepted that Arsenal had caused his side problems. “Arsenal came to win,” he said in comments published by UEFA. “We suffered as Arsenal, who play well with and without the ball, caused us problems.”
PSG book a final against Inter
The victory sent Paris to the final against Inter at the Munich Football Arena on 31 May. Inter had beaten Barcelona 7-6 on aggregate after an extra-time win at San Siro.
Arsenal, meanwhile, failed for a sixth time to recover after losing the home leg of a European tie.
