Rodri has defended Manchester City’s achievements, insisting that “everything was deserved” as he addressed questions surrounding his former club during Spain’s press conference at Wembley.
Speaking ahead of Spain’s UEFA Nations League match against England, Rodri said the success he experienced with City came through the effort and commitment of players, Pep Guardiola and staff throughout the club.
The midfielder argued that those achievements cannot be taken away from the people who worked for them, describing his time at Manchester City as part of “one of the best eras of English football”.
Rodri was also asked about Manchester City’s position over the Premier League financial case. He explained that the club had consistently expressed confidence in its innocence and said he continued to believe what he had been told while at City.
The Spain captain also reflected on returning to England after seven years in the country and discussed his faith following a difficult period in his career. Spain face England at Wembley as they begin their UEFA Nations League campaign.
