Ronaldo volley completes Al Nassr comeback against Al Riyadh

Cristiano Ronaldo scored both Al Nassr goals after half-time, the winner a volley into the top corner, as they saw off 10-man Al Riyadh 2-1 having trailed at the break.

Al Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo struck twice after half-time, the winner a first-time volley, as his side recovered to win 2-1 against Al Riyadh at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh on 12 April 2025.

Al Riyadh had led at half-time in the Saudi Pro League match, and finished with 10 men after defender Ahmed Asiri was sent off in stoppage time.

Selemani puts Al Riyadh ahead

Coach Stefano Pioli’s side had more of the ball before the break but fell behind two minutes into first-half stoppage time. Al Nassr goalkeeper Bento parried a shot from an Al Riyadh defender and Faïz Selemani turned in the rebound.

Ronaldo’s two goals

Ronaldo equalised early in the second half. Sadio Mané played the ball across the six-yard box and Ronaldo, 40, turned it into an empty net. The goal stood after a video review for offside.

Mané was also involved in the winner. His low cross from the left was cleared, but only as far as Ronaldo on the edge of the box, and his volley flew into the top corner past goalkeeper Milan Borjan.

Al Riyadh’s Asiri was first shown a yellow card for a clash with Jhon Durán deep in stoppage time. After a VAR review, the referee changed it to a red. Durán, who had joined Al Nassr from Aston Villa in January, missed several chances during the match.

Al Nassr were next due to play away at Al Qadsiah in the league on 18 April.
