Rúben Dias press conference ahead of Denmark vs Portugal
One of Portugal’s captains answers questions about Cristiano Ronaldo’s walk-off after the win in Norway.
Rúben Dias says it was “20 seconds” of frustration that is nothing compared with Ronaldo’s 20-plus years of commitment to the national team, and that five minutes later the whole squad was celebrating together in the dressing room.
He says there is no friction in the Portuguese camp and that he speaks for himself, Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes, and none of them gives the Ronaldo walk-off as much importance as the press has. Asked whether he could become Portugal’s main captain, he says “time will tell” and that the armband follows the number of caps.
In this press conference:Rúben Dias talks about Denmark vs Portugal in the Nations League. He calls Denmark efficient, complete and dangerous, praises Joachim Andersen and Rasmus Højlund, and says only Portugal’s best version can win in Copenhagen.
He also explains what has changed in the defence under Jorge Jesus, his former coach, talks about his goal-saving block against Norway, and refuses to comment on Manchester City’s charges, saying: “I won’t comment on anything that isn’t about the national team.&
