“That Wasn’t Celtic” Young Star Demands a Response After Rangers Defeat

Colby Donovan says Celtic must repay the supporters after their 3-0 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox, admitting the performance “wasn’t us” as the Hoops prepare for two crucial games at Celtic Park.

The 20-year-old defender reflects on his first Old Firm experience and the disappointment inside the Celtic squad following the League Cup defeat. Donovan insists the players have taken ownership of the result and believes their Europa League opener against Ferencvaros gives them an immediate opportunity to respond.

Celtic then face Rangers again on Sunday, this time at home in the Scottish Premiership. Donovan expects a different Celtic side and believes having around 60,000 supporters behind them will make it a completely different occasion.

The young full-back also discusses his first senior Scotland call-up under Sebastien Pocognoli, his ambitions to earn minutes and establish himself in the national squad, and the experience he has gained from playing European football and Glasgow derbies for Celtic.
