Houston guard Milos Uzan entered the 2025 NBA draft while keeping the option to return to college for another season.
The junior declared on 13 April, six days after the Cougars lost 65-63 to Florida in the national championship game. The NBA later included him among 106 early-entry candidates.
Uzan breaks through after move to Houston
The 6-foot-4 guard joined Houston after spending his first two college seasons at Oklahoma. He averaged 11.4 points and a team-high 4.4 assists during the 2024-25 campaign.
Uzan shot 43 percent from three-point range and earned a place on the All-Big 12 second team. His improved shooting and control of Houston’s offense put him on the NBA draft radar.
The Cougars won a school-record 35 games, swept the Big 12 regular-season and tournament titles and reached the NCAA final. Florida came back from 12 points down in the second half to deny Houston the national championship.
March performances raise Uzan’s profile
Uzan produced his best scoring game of the season in the Big 12 tournament final, finishing with 25 points in a 72-64 win over Arizona on 15 March.
He delivered again in the Sweet 16 against Purdue. Uzan scored 22 points, then decided a 60-60 game with a carefully executed final possession.
He inbounded the ball to Joseph Tugler, cut toward the basket, took the return pass and scored a layup with 0.9 seconds left to give Houston a 62-60 victory.
Draft process leaves return open
Declaring did not immediately end Uzan’s college career. By retaining his eligibility, he could receive feedback from NBA teams and withdraw before the NCAA deadline if he preferred another season at Houston.
The decision gave Uzan a chance to test his value after a deep tournament run while preserving a route back to one of college basketball’s strongest teams.
