Raptors shut down Brandon Ingram after ankle injection

Toronto ruled Brandon Ingram out for the rest of the season after the forward received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his injured left ankle.

Toronto ruled Brandon Ingram out for the rest of the season after the forward received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his injured left ankle.

Ingram did not play for the Raptors after arriving from the Pelicans at the trade deadline.

Specialist confirms Toronto’s treatment plan

Ingram visited a foot specialist in New York while the Raptors were there to face Brooklyn. The specialist agreed with Toronto’s diagnosis and recommended the PRP injection.

Head coach Darko Rajaković said the treatment would support Ingram’s recovery and give him time to prepare for the summer programme.

“He’s been recovering really well,” Rajaković said. “We’re doing everything in our power” to prevent the ankle becoming a recurring problem.

Ingram waits for his Toronto debut

The 27-year-old had been out since spraining the ankle with New Orleans on 7 December.

Toronto acquired him on 6 February and signed him to a three-year, $120 million extension five days later.

Ingram averaged 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists across 18 games for the Pelicans that season.

Lost bet puts Ingram in Houston jersey

Ingram watched Toronto’s final home game from the bench wearing a University of Houston jersey carrying teammate Jamal Shead’s name and number.

He had lost a bet to Shead when Houston came back to beat Ingram’s former college, Duke, in the Final Four.

The injection ended any possibility of a late-season debut but allowed Ingram to focus on being healthy for his first full campaign in Toronto.
